Product Description

This is a pair of Prothane upper axle housing bushing for your 1979-04 Ford Mustang. They are made with Prothane's hard compound and molded in black. They will help prevent deflection and wheel hop.

Bushing Lubrication The suspension bushings included with this part can only be lubricated with PTFE grease, also referred to as "Marine Grease". PTFE grease is a very sticky, opaque grease that is water proof and will not degrade the bushing material. If lubed properly at installation, these bushings will not need to be lubricated again. Use of any other grease on these bushings will cause the bushing to fail and any bushing warranty to be voided.

5 Stars   Worked as expected

Definite improvement over the horrible stock bushings. Mine were torn and the spacer was eccentric after only 40K miles on a fairly stock motor. They should be included in ANY upper control arm kit, but that is another story.

Installation was easy once the stock bushing were removed. Use a 3/16" drill bit between the circumference of the old rubber and the steel sleeve allowing it to walk around the perimeter. It will cut the glue and they will pop right out.

I bought these bushings about two weeks ago. I was very happy with the way they were packed and the timely manner they arrived. The bushings are sturdy and well made :-) my fiance and I were able to install them and install the rear axle in a morning using jack, jack stands and a handful of hand tools. I'm very excited to see how they preform. Very happy with all aspects of the process. Thank you LMR for all the help.

My bushing were all worn out and broken, followed the tip to use a drill bit and let it walk around the bushing and it worked perfect the bushing just fell out with that method. New bushing greased up slide right in. I can feel a noticably difference putting power to the ground now.

Installed these over the weekend. Popped them in the freezer the night before. You need to re-use the factory metal sleeve inserts. Use a drill bit or holesaw and remove the old rubber bushing. Apply grease that's supplied and they easily go in. Simple.

I did not install this product because I read that it can make the rear ride to harsh and cause binding. don't know if this is the case but none the less I decided to go with the factory rubber bushings. car rides nice with sve tubular control arms, ford motorsport lowering springs, and new spring isolators.

getting the old ones out was SUCH A PITA !!
but after cleaning the old sleeves well, greasing the insides and the new bushings outsides, they slid right in smooth as can be.
another great part at a great price from Late Model Resto !!

DON'T REMOVE THE SHELL ONLY THE INNER RUBBER BUSHING.
Very snug fit. Takes a bit of effort to get the old rubber bushing out. A drill works.Bushings look like good quality and should give many years of life.

compound was harder than I expected but I have no complaints about its quality. I ended leaving in the old rubber ones but may try these down the road.

5 Stars   Easy Install, Great FIT
By on 1/9/2015
Bought to go with my control arms, install wasnt really that hard. Follow the previous reviewers tip and use a drill with an drill bit and let the drill bit work its way around the outside of the old bushing, my results were that it actually pulled the old bushing in ONE piece out the longer I let it work. Took about 45 seconds!!! But all in all GREAT product!!

About This Brand

Prothane
Lifted or lowered suspensions, increases in horsepower, plus-size wheels and tires can subject traditional rubber suspension bushings to forces beyond their limits. Control arms, strut arms, leaf springs, body mounts, motor mounts, transmission mounts, sway bars and shocks all control movement and maintain alignment but the rubber bushings they use are designed for more "middle of the road" use. Rubber also deteriorates over time, further reducing control. This contributes to premature component failure, a "spongy" ride and less than ideal performance handling. Urethane bushings can correct these conditions, and improve drivability in your Mustang or Ford Lightning.
