1987-1993 Mustang Mirror Switch Installation

1. Armrest/Armrest Delete Panel Removal - If you have a factory-installed factory armrest, remove the console mount oval access plugs to access the armrest mounting hardware. Remove the armrest mounting hardware and lift the armrest out of the way. If you have an armrest delete panel, pull up on the panel to remove the panel.
   
2. Remove the 2 Phillips head screws that retain the top panel to the bracket on the floor pan. 
   
3. Remove the shift bezel by pulling up on the shifter surround. On a manual, you can roll over the shift knob out of the way. 
   
4. Remove the two Phillip heads retaining the top panel to the center console.
   
5. Pull up on the e-brake handle to engage the e-brake. This will allow you to remove the top panel later in the removal. 
   
6. Lift on the top panel at the rear to access the two electrical connections. Disconnect these connections. One will be the cigarette lighter connection; the other will be the mirror switch connection. 
   
7. With those two connections disconnected, you can pass the top panel over the e-brake handle and remove it. 
   
8. On a working bench, use a flat head or panel removal tool to press the retaining clips on the mirror switch. This will allow you to push the old mirror switch out of the top panel. There will be four, with two on each side. 
   
9. Install the new switch by pressing the mirror switch into the top panel. Use caution to ensure the switch is installed in the correct orientation. There is a locating tab on the mirror switch, so it will only install in one direction. 
   
10. Reinstall all removed items in reverse order to complete installation.
