On the 2015-17 Mustang GT, you can now turn your car into a tire shedding machine without having to install any aftermarket equipment or trying to find that perfect balance with the brake pedal. With the line lock option you can now lock up the front brakes and allow the rear tires to spin freely with little effort. Not only will it let you leave the competition in a cloud of smoke, but it will also be useful for heating up your tires for improved traction at the track.

Ford has made it very simple to enable this feature; all you need to do is:

  • Navigate to your track apps

Line lock comes as a standard feature on the V8 powered GT models. Even though it comes factory equipped, it does seem that using it improperly can void your warranty. Ford says it is for track use and racing may void your warranty. They also say damage caused by racing will void your warranty.

Line lock is only one of many new features that comes with the 2015-17 Mustang. Ford has included something for every enthusiast. Whether you want to improve your ¼ mile time or take some corners on a road course, with the 2015-17 Ford Mustang, you have every tool that you need at your fingertips.

Mustangs and burnouts go hand-in-hand, so Ford decided to accomplish an industry first and supply all 2015 Mustang GTs with an electronic line lock feature!

The purpose of a link lock is to apply pressure to the front brakes while letting the rear wheels spin freely. This will insure two things, warm tires for a drag strip launch, and an easy, smoky burnout!
