How's it going everyone? Landon here with latemodelrestoration.com. And today, I'm going to be checking out the Roush Performance Heat Extractors fitting the 2015 Mustang GT. Roush performs excels in every aspect of performance and styling for the Mustang. In the business since 1995, they have proven their passion and commitment to excellence in every product they engineer.
The Roush Performance Heat Extractor is made from lightweight and rigid ABS plastic for superior durability, appearance, heat and impact resistance. Each heat extractor is manufactured and designed using original manufactured CAD data for industry leading quality and optimum fit making installation a breeze. These extractors will match the rest of your 2015 exterior trim perfectly. However, you do have the option to drop these off at your local print shop and have them prep and paint to match the rest of the car.
Before you install your Roush Performance Heat Extractors head on over the product page, if you're not already there, and pretty detailed instructions. Within the printed instructions, there will be the needed drill template. However, Roush only list the driver's side template. So we simply flip the template over and it'll work just fine for the passenger side. Now follow along guys as we show you how to install the Roush Heat Extractors on this triple yellow GT.
To begin installation, pop your hood and remove the 15 push pins holding the hood insulator to the underside of the hood. Starting on the driver's side remove the two adhesive pads that retain the cables to the factory heat extractor. Remove the two nine millimeter nuts at the bottom front edge of the heat extractor. Pry the plaster retainer away from the hood with your fingers or plastic pry tool.
Now clean off any remaining adhesive on the retainer and hood. Release the six clips on the heat extractor and remove it from the car. Remove and transfer the studs on the stock heat extractor to the new Roush Heat Extractors. Install the supplied adhesive back foam to the bottom of the factory plastic retainers.
Cut out the drill template from the last page of instruction manual. Tape it in place and mark the holes with the center punch. Remove the template and drill the marked holes with a 1/8-inch bit. Take this time to clean the area. Position the new Roush Heat Extractor into place by clipping it into the factory slots. Reinstall the plastic retainer and tighten the previously removed nine millimeters nuts.
Now install the two included T-10 Torx screws into the drilled hole. Do the same for the passenger side and remember to flip the template over. Vacuum up any metal shavings in trim two of the hood insulator push pins. Reposition the hood insulator and place the two trim push pins into the holes directly below the heat extractor. Give everything a good once over, and you're all done.
All right. Guys, I just finished up the install on the Roush Heat Extractors and they really set the factory hood off with their sharp grill style openings. They are still 100% functional, and it will pull that awful engine heat out from underneath the hood.
