Hi, I'm Jeff at latemodelrestoration.com. Today I'm here with Jonathan.
Hey, Jeff. How's it going, man?
Man, it's going pretty good. Today we're going to install '79 to '93 Wiper Arm and Blade Kit on the red coupe you see behind us. Before we start that install, Jonathan, tell them a little bit more about this kit.
All right, Jeff. Our '79 to '93 Wiper Arm and Blade Kit includes an exact reproduction of the original wiper arm already coated in trim black. The blades that we use are Motorcraft Premiums. That way, you're getting the best blade your money can buy.
Hey, sounds good. Let's get this install started.
All right, man. Let's do it. Installing new wiper arms and blades on your '79 to '93 Mustang is a great way to improve the exterior appearance, while also increasing safety while driving in the rain.
Removal and installation is very simple. All you have to do is lift the arm, release the locking tab, and wiggle it free from the spline shaft. As you can see, there's a piece of blue tape on the windshield. It's a good little tech tip to put some masking tape on your windshield to mark where your original blades were at. That way, your new arm and blade go back on in the same position.
Whenever you take your new blades out of the box, you'll notice that it says Motorcraft on one side only. Make sure that side goes up because right next to it is a black dot, and that's an age indicator. That's going to turn yellow when it's time for you to replace your wiper blades.
Also in the box with the blades is going to be three plastic retainers. Grab the one with three recesses, snap the middle recess onto the shaft of the wiper blade, and grab your arm and slide the arm through the installation hole on the blade, and then lock the retainer into place. Simple as that.
Now you can slide it back onto the car just by reengaging the spline shaft, lifting, locking the tab, lowering it back down to the windshield, and you're done. The same arm and blade fits both sides. That way, there's no confusion which one's right and which one's left. And the removal and installation process is the exact same for the other side.
