Hey, everybody. J-Mac with latemodelrestoration.com. Today I'm going to show you how to replace your console armrest pad and trim panel for '87 and '93 Fox Mustang. Now this one here, the foam is completely separated, the vinyl's going away, and the trim panel was broken in the ever-so-popular area right there where it latches down. So now whenever you're going down the road, it's just flapping in the breeze. Really simple, four screws. Grab you a Phillips-head screwdriver or screw drill and remove your screws.
[DRILLING SOUND]
All right. Those come free. Now it comes with new retaining hardware, or you can reuse your existing hardware, whichever you prefer. Go ahead and paint your new armrest pad. For more info on that, check out our YouTube channel. We show you step by step how to paint interior plastic pieces as well as vinyl. Go ahead and stage up your armrest pad. And then grab your new top panel. Slide it into the place. We're going to go and reuse the stock screws.
Get you your two bottom screws started, because this is what also holds everything together over the pivot. Go ahead and snug those down, not completely tight. Just enough to kind of hold it in place. Then you can adjust everything as you need, and toss in your top two screws. It may take a little bit to line these up. And you can go ahead and snug those down. And don't over-tighten them, or you'll break your brand new trim panel.

Then you can snug up your bottom two.

All right. Then shut your panel, and now it's locked into place. We also have the circular covers to cover up these pivot points, as well as a new ashtray, should you need it. For more interior restoration videos and tech tips, check out latemodelrestoration.com.
