While the aftermarket does not offer a chin spoiler specifically for the 99-01 Cobra bumper, many enthusiasts have been modifying the Mach 1 and Cobra chin spoiler to fit these bumpers for years. With LMR now offering an aftermarket 99-01 Cobra bumper, we wanted to give you an idea of how these chin spoilers fit on the 99-01 Cobra bumper.
SVE Mach 1 Chin Spoiler
The
SVE Mach 1 chin spoiler is no doubt the most popular chin spoiler option for 99-04 Mustangs. This chin spoiler was designed after the factory 03-04 Mach 1 chin spoiler that quickly became a staple in the New Edge community. Over the years, this chin spoiler has been modified to fit 94-98 V6/GT and even 87-93 Fox Body LX bumpers.
When it comes to the 99-01 Cobra, these iconic cars were never offered with a chin spoiler from the factory, and at the time of this article, there has not been a specific 99-01 Cobra chin spoiler developed. 99-01 Cobra owners have favored the Mach 1 chin spoiler as a viable option, although it does not fit as flush as it does for the bumper it was intended for, the V6/GT bumper.
We installed an SVE Mach 1 chin spoiler on an LMR 99-01 Cobra bumper to give you an idea of what you could expect if you choose to install this chin spoiler.
We also installed an 03-04 Cobra chin spoiler that resulted in similar results and a very similar gap at the end of the bumper. The 03-04 Cobra chin spoiler is a little more forgiving for getting around the curvature of this bumper, but some modification will be needed.
