When attempting to install aftermarket or other factory style 4-lug Mustang wheels on a 1993 Cobra, there are a few things that need to be changed in order to accommodate the unique fitment on these cars.
- You will need to swap out the Cobra Length Axles for Stock Length 87-93 5.0 Fox axles. The Cobra Axles are 3/4" wider per side and will cause the aftermarket or other factory style Mustang wheels to stick out and/or contact the outer fender lip, especially if you run anything larger than a 17x8.
- Then, you will need to use new Rear Caliper Brackets (LRS-2100D-K) to get the rear brakes in the correct position for the Fox Length Axles.
- Next, the Front Rotors will have to be swapped for Stock V8 87-93 LX or GT Rotors. The Factory Cobra front rotors have a larger "hat" to accommodate for the wider Cobra Axles and if not swapped out, it will cause the aftermarket or other factory style Mustang wheels to stick out and contact the outer fender lip. This will not impede any performance at all. It will just get the wheels into the correct position. The Cobra calipers will also work perfectly fine with the 87-93 GT/LX Rotors!
- Finally, flipping the Quad Shock and (depending on the car/tire size) rolling the fender lip may be needed depending on Tire and Wheel Size
