Identifying Your Vehicles Computer Code
When researching the best tuning options for your 1987-Present Mustang or 1995-04 SVT Lightning, it is important to know your ECU code and the computer's location that contains it. With there being 1000's of ECU codes out there, it is very important to get this right the first time. Here are some examples of your vehicles computer codes and some tips to help you locate your own.

Computer Code Location
Although this will all depend on what year Mustang or Lightning you own, the common places for a computer code is the engine bay or behind the passenger side kick panel. We have laid out each generation Mustang & Lightning computer code location below for an easy guide to finding your computer code!
1987-2004 Ford Mustang Computer Code Location
You will find the computer code on 1987-04 Mustangs under the passenger side kick panel on the actual computer. However, if you are one of the lucky ones, the code can still be found on the passenger side door jam on a white sticker. These tend to fall off overtime.
2005-2010 Ford Mustang Computer Code Location
On your 2005-2010 Mustang your computer code can be found in the engine bay. This code will be located on a silver rectangular box on the passenger side of the vehicle.
2011-2014 Ford Mustang Computer Code Location
Finding the computer code is pretty simple on your 11-14 Mustang. The ECU containing this code is located on the passenger side of the engine bay next to the fuse box on a silver metal bracket.
2015-2023 Ford Mustang Computer Code Location
Your 2015-2023 Mustang's computer code location is no secret and hasn't changed much from the previous year. You can find this code underneath the fuse box on a silver metal bracket.
*2015-2023 Mustang Note: ECU codes may vary with year and model. ECU codes may be normal 4 digit codes like 2005-2014, or may require the last 2-3 digits of the P/N Number. For proper tuning, the tunning company will need to know if you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the dash (Performance Pack Cars) or just the normal oil pressure gauge on the speedometer cluster (non-performance pack cars).
1995 SVT Lightning Computer Code Location
The 95 SVT Lightning ECU is located underneath the drivers side kick panel, and you will have to remove the parking brake assembly in order to get to the ECU from inside. You can also remove the fender well liner to get to the ECU but the computer code will only be visible from the inside the vehicle or with the ECU pulled out completely.
1999-2004 SVT Lightning Computer Code Location
The 99-04 SVT Lightning computer code location is similar to the 1987-04 Mustang's location. You can find your Lightning's computer code on the ECU located under the passenger side kick panel.
