How To Install Mustang Fuse Panel Bracket And Hardware Kit | (1990-93) - How To Install Mustang Fuse Panel Bracket And Hardware Kit | (1990-93)

Start by removing the (2) Phillips head screws from the steering column trim and separate the (2) halves.

From underneath the lower dash trim loosen and remove the (3) 8mm bolts.

To remove the trim piece simply pull straight back to dislodge the clips.

To remove the metal reinforcement plate, you will need to remove the (2) 8mm bolts. Hold when removing the 2nd bolt so that the plate doesn’t fall.

Remove the fuse panel cover if it is still there (like many other fox bodies’ ours was missing).

Depress the tab on the electrical connector and remove from the fuse panel bracket.

Loosen and remove the (2) screws that retain the fuse panel to the bracket.

Loosen and remove the (2) screws that secure the bracket to the dash frame and the fuse panel bracket can now be removed.

After we inspected our old bracket, we definitely noticed a huge bend so it definitely needed to be replaced.

Before installation, we are going to paint the new bracket with our SEM Trim Black Paint.

To prep for paint, you will need to thoroughly scuff the surface of the bracket with a scuff pad and then wipe clean with a wax and grease remover.

You can now layer this bracket with a few coats of paint.

Once you allow enough drying time you can now position the bracket over the face of the fuse panel. Carefully tighten the provided screws or reuse your old ones.

Slide the fuse panel bracket behind the dash and thread one of the provided machine screws into place.

Install the 2nd screw and then carefully tighten both screws.

Because of threaded insert in our 50Resto bracket you will have to use the screws that we have provided in the kit.

Reinstall the electrical connector onto the small tab and reposition the fuse panel cover.

Now you just have to reinstall the interior components that you removed previously and will start by positioning the reinforcement panel into place and carefully tighten the retaining bolts (since these also retain the instrument cluster surround you don’t want to damage the plastic mounting tabs so DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN).

Reinstall the lower dash trim by pushing the clips into place.

Lastly reinstall the column trim and retighten the screws and you’re good to go!
