How To Remove & Install Fox Body Mustang Mass Air Mounting Bracket | 86-93

This bracket not only serves as a replacement for mass air cars from 89-93, but also serves as a replacement for 86-88 speed density cars that are converting to Mass Air and are wanting to install a bracket to complete this conversion properly. In this article and video we are performing the removal and install with a factory air box assembly.

Removal

1. Disconnect the Mass Air Meter electrical connection.



2. Loosen the 8mm or 5/16 hose clamp securing the inlet elbow to the throttle body.



3. If your car still has the factory air box, simply release the (4) latches that secure the lid to the airbox. There is one underneath the rubber coupler, one at the front, and two at the top.





4. Now you can loosen and remove the (2) bolts that secure the mass air meter bracket to the strut tower with an 11mm socket.



5. Remove the inlet elbow from the throttle body and the entire assembly can be removed from the car.



6. On a workbench loosen and remove the (3) 8mm bolts securing the mass air meter to the bracket.

Install

1. Position the new bracket into place and install (3) of the provided 8mm bolts by snugging down in a circular pattern.



2. Go ahead and reinstall the assembly into the car.



3. Align the mass air bracket with the holes and strut tower and loosely install the (2) provided bolts, then fully tighten.



4. Align the air box lid with the airbox and reattach the clips.



5. Reinstall the inlet elbow onto the throttle body and snug down the hose clamp.



6. Reconnect the mass air meter electrical connection.
