79-86 Fox Body Coin Tray Install

This Coin Tray is molded from black plastic and incorporates the correct grain and texture to match the rest of the center console. It is also molded using original Ford tooling which means all of the factory mounting clips and provisions are accurately placed on the tray to insure a factory fit.

1. The Rubber E-Brake Seal and plastic retainer come pre-installed for those with black interior, if not the small metal retainers can be removed or the rubber seal can be removed and masked off if you are wanting to paint to match the rest of the interior.


2. To begin paint prep you will first need to perform a light scuff with a non-abrasive scuff pad, a light wash with Dawn dish soap and warm water, then a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol.


3. Next apply 1 or 2 coats of a plastic primer to provide a lighter undertone before spraying the primary color.


4. When spraying the primary color make sure to make moderately slow passes and keeping the nozzle about 10 in from the product. Also, if you plan on painting both sides make sure you paint the underside first which is referred to as “cutting in”.


5. Next make sure tray is dry before the install begins.


6. To begin the installation, open the armrest pad and remove the 2 retaining screws.


7. Then pull up on the e-brake as high as it will go and dislodge the center clips from the tray. This will make you able to able to move the tray to the rear of the car which will dislodge the front locating tabs. Now the old tray can be removed from the car.


8. We highly recommend to clean and vacuum this area before the install of the new tray to ensure a more solid fit. Then wipe of the residue with a microfiber towel.


9. Next feed the new tray through the e-brake and install the front tabs first, then fully seat the center clips.


10. Next align the 2 crew holes and tighten using a phillips screw driver


11. Now you can close the armrest pad and disengage the e-brake handle.
