They have accomplished this by raising up the intake so that there is a gap underneath the intake runners for cool air to run through. The cooler air results in a denser charge for more power. This Mustang Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap intake manifold is a direct fit for 1979-85 Mustang 5.0, but will also work on any 289/302 based small block Ford using a carburetor.
