I recently purchased this actuator kit to repair the passenger side lock motor on my 89 Mustang Convertible GT 5.0. The kits honestly comes with everything part needed and a handy tool to assist with removing the door panels. The installation is fairly simple taking about thirty minutes to fully complete. I recommend watching the video, it is very helpful. 4 stars is for the overall product. I would give 5, but one of the door actuators I received appears to be weak in operation. It will function, but sometimes it takes a couple presses of the lock/unlock button and its really slow compared to factory. I decided not to swap the driver side working actuator after seeing the difference in function. On the other hand I would like to give 10 stars to Latemodel Restoration customer service. When I called to inquire about these units maybe being defective or weak, they were very helpful with resolution. Please be advised that instillation will require the use of a large rivet gun capable of receiving 1/4 inch rivets. Your average one found at local stores will not do this. I traveled all over town because I thought the gun I had would work. Save yourself some time, headache, and order it here, the price is the cheapest anywhere I could find and it is necessary for the door locks and other repairs on the car.

These are a PITA to install… Make sure you have half a day! The rivet gun is a must! These rivets are big and most guns don't have the tip to install them! When installed I recommend white lithium spray to lube all of the lock and door mechanics! Hit the power lock up & down a few times to make sure it works properly before reinstalling door panel! Mine didn't but after lube and few pokes on the button it worked like new! Good luck!

Second set I've bought. First set worked for only three or four months. This set won't even lock/unlock out of the box. Cheaply made crap parts.

looks like they fit good but wish it came with instructions on if there was any adjustment, they don't travel enough to lock or unlock my doors

This is a decent kit. The included tool could be made much better as it is angled too much, not allowing the tool to fully reach under the plastic push pin before pulling the door panel away from the door. I used a similar tool, but with a flatter profile sold by Snap-on which worked much better for removing the push pins from the door without damaging the cardboard door panels. Regarding the online video, it is better to remove the two Phillips head screws that retain the power window and door lock switches to the armrest, than to try and unplug the armrest harness from the door harness. With the switches still connected, you will be able to test your new door lock motors after they are installed before reassembling any door parts. And you will not risk damaging the brittle plastic electrical connector clips that hold the electrical connectors together. Also, with the switches attached the power windows can be easily lowered for removal and replacement of the door panels and raised for replacement of the lock motors. Contrary to the video, I also recommend using pliers for pushing the rollpin through the lock motor rod rather than hammering the pin in. By using a hammer you risk cocking the pin or folding it over. A hammer is just overkill and pliers will easily and smoothly push the pin in place. These aftermarket lock motors seem adequate for the job, but do appear to have lower torque than the original Ford lock motors. These lock motors will not be able to overcome low battery voltage or stiff linkage if you have those problems. The replacement push pins are absolutely necessary for anyone removing door panels with 25-year old push pins as the old pins will be absolutely useless for reattaching the door panels.

bought the setup, the plastic push ins work great, the tool makes things so much easier, but both actuators do not work.
i installed one a while back, straight away it just didnt work, but i just didnt feel like having to do it all over again so i left it. i finally decided to use the second one (which i never used since my passenger lock worked fine) a few days ago, keeping fingers crossed that this one would work.
again, not working. if you just remove from car and push the lock button, the end will spin, like its trying at least, however as soon as u put any pressure whatsoever, it just has no power to move.
i just cant understand how 1 product can have so many people saying theyre not working. youd think the company would get the hint and put a better motor in these or something.
anyway, i do not recommend getting these.
or if you do, id say get from another place, since those places will honor the lifetime warranty on the Dorman parts, whereas its only 1 year from here. for the same part. exact same. same brand, same model, everything.

The locks on my 89 Mustang hatchback for the doors have never worked. I eventually replaced the locks themselves and then decided to finish by replacing the actuators for the power door locks. They seem to be not functioning on most Fox Body Mustangs I've seen due to water getting into them. These seemed to be covered better to prevent that problem. I was pleasantly surprised how easy they went in and how they worked great right off the bat. The only problem is that the rivet they use is slightly bigger than most hand rivet guns will handle, and I ended up having to purchase a large rivet gun, with a long handle that you use both hands on you squeeze together. It cost me around $50, I may have been able to use a nut and screw instead but I wanted to do it right, and after the purchase of the rivet gun it went together excellently and tightly. As usual shipping was fast and excellent and the product was was just as described thank you LMR

I got the original kit with 2 actuators even though only one of my doors wouldn't unlock. The first one took me about 3 hours because of difficulty with the rivet and the break in period for the actuator. (wouldnt unlock until about 50 or so cycles) Then my drivers side crapped out a few months later, so I pulled out the other side and it didnt pop the lock, but I figured it needed break in. But after 3 more months its a no go. But when the late model staff got word that my unit was defective they immediately sent out a new one + a rivet. Popped it in today and it works like a charm! Thanks guys, I can now use my keyless entry in my 93 mustang again. Awesome product and awesome service!

Nice kit, great price. Removal tool is great to have allowing you to pull panel without damaging it. The kit comes with replacement push pins in case you damage the originals upon removal.

The actuators are made identical as originals, and video is spot on about installation, but both failed to lock or unlock door. It's not that these in particular aren't working, there's current going through both units and spin the arm but once inserted into the door mechanism, they appear to be too weak to lock/unlock door. Kinda disappointed.

This kit is spot on if you need to replace your power locks. Everything needed is top quality. The only, very minor, issue that I had was finding the right rivet tool to mount the actuators. Having a single sheet of paper with the specs of the parts would be nice.

I've replaced quite a few of these in foxes and SN-95's. They are super simple to remove and install but the rivet gun required for installation sucks and is almost impossible to use. So far the LMR actuators are the best available IMO. Nice that this kit comes with the door panel clips and tool also. I wish the actuator could be made into a bolt in kit. Of all the great technology we have in Mustang's, why can't we have a bolt in actuator?

First time installing lock actuators. I bought these because my locks where totally destroyed when I bought the car and now that it is winter they would freeze shut. I actually got locked inside my car haha. I put these babies in and they work like a charm no more freezing. I do suggest disconnecting your battery while installing these though I did not and my battery died from having the doors open.

I brought this to replace my old water damged lock actuators and push pins for the door panel was great too it made convenient since I broke most of the old pins latemodelresto has been making restoring my mustang such easier with great kits like this and I plan to use them for the rest of my restoration of my mustang

I recently bought this kit and it came with everything needed to replace the old actuators from start to finish and it even came with a tool to easily remove the old trees that I'll be using in the future on other projects for sure but be careful not to lose the spring dowels they are hard to find!

I bought the door lock actuator kit for my 1990 mustang. It didn't take long to get them and my husband put them in. They work great it is nice to have door locks that work. The price was a lot better than other places I seen & cheaper than taking the car in someplace to have them installed.

I finally got around to getting these in. Overall y fit well and the install video was very helpful. The only Things to look out for are the units need to be cycled alot (maybe 50 tines) and I had to lubricate the mechanism inside the door.
Worth the money.

Could not lock my doors because the old actuators were frozen. I watched the video from LMR ,followed the steps,and everything works like it should. I like that the rivet looks just like the original. Nice tool for removing the door cards too!

I was unable to lock my doors at all. Bought these. Received them a couple days after I ordered them. Took me about an hour to install. Make sure you have a big enough rivet tool. Now locks work great again. Awesome part easy to install.

I bought my 91 GT and the power door locks didn't work. Drivers side actuator was missing and the passenger side didn't work. I bought these new actuators and the install was a piece of cake and they worked perfectly! Thanks LMR!!!

Having replacement pins and the tool help make this an easy fix. Seem like a big job but it's not, just take your time and work carefully if you have never removed the door panel or drilled out a rivet.

Drivers side motor stopped working. Bought the kit and replaced both in a morning with interruptions. Great kit I did have to buy a larger rivet gun, Mine didn't have the large hole size. great Kit.

The video is spot on about installation. Follow it exactly and this should be a piece of cake. The rivets are a little annoying and makes me wounder why they haven't made a bolt on actuator.

Thanks to these I now have working door locks again on my 93 Cobra. Installation was a breeze thanks to the rivet gun I had previously purchased from LMR to install outer door handles.

Installed these two in my 93 Cobra. Great fit, easily done. Tools comes in handy, door plugs improves panel fit. Locks work perfectly now.

Just bought my 2nd fox and realized the drivers side power door actuator was not working. Quick order to LRS and now i have power locks!

This is the second set I have had to buy within the last 3 years. The first set worked for about 6 months before quiting, this set works, because they are new, but only when they are outside of the door. I cant get them to work inside when they are connected to the door lock system.

I just received this today it was packaged perfect nothing was really loose and it only took a day and a half to get to me I haven't installed them yet due to rain but whenever I get them installed I'll write another review on how they performed!!
