Fitment Notice

1985-1993 Mustang
- This steering rack will have steering rack bushings and sleeves pre-installed to the steering rack. For 1985-93, the pre-installed steering bushing rack sleeve will be removed before installation onto 1985-93 Mustangs. The OEM K-member steering rack sleeve will be used in place of the pre-installed sleeve installed into the bushing. Replacement K-member sleeves are available here!
1979-1984 Mustang
- The pre-installed steering rack sleeves and bushings will need to be completely removed from the steering rack and replaced with the PT-6702BL bushings must be used for proper fitment.

Installation Note

Teflon washers and O-rings are NOT included.
If using adapters for AN fittings, you must ensure they are installed properly, or it will blow the seal out. This will void your warranty if installed incorrectly.
After installation, LMR recommends having a professional alignment shop make sure the toe is properly set and also ensure that your steering wheel is aligned correctly.

Power Steering Hoses Note

79-84 Mustangs originally equipped with TRW rack* must update their power steering hoses to match the newer 83-93 Ford style rack housing.
Some early model Fox Bodies did not have the added-in cooler, which can be purchased separately - Power Steering Cooler Tube & Hardware Kit (83-89) 5.0

*The TRW rack can be identified by its two-piece steel and aluminum housing. The Ford-style rack is a one-piece cast aluminum housing.

Power Steering Pump Note:

This rack is designed to be used with the stock or stock replacement 79-93 Ford Mustang power steering pump. If using an aftermarket or non-stock pump due to an engine swap or accessory drive change, the manufacturer's MAX recommended pump flow is 1.585gpm, and the MAX recommended pressure is 1160.3psi.

Product Note

1979-1993 Mustangs originally equipped with 4-cylinder engines will result in a steering ratio change from 20:1 to 15:1.
1979-1993 Mustangs originally equipped with 8-cylinder engines will have the same 15:1 ratio as the factory rack.
This rack uses 9/16-18 thread pitch inner tie rods.
The included filter will be installed on the main return hose, located between the power steering cooler and the pump.

Eliminate sloppy steering in your Fox Body with this brand-new quick-ratio power steering rack! Normal wear and tear on your steering rack results in too much play in the steering wheel as well as an increased effort to turn the wheel. This rack replaces your worn-out steering rack with a brand-new unit, providing an improved steering response as well as reduced effort when turning the wheel without the need to return a core or pay a core charge! Utilizing the factory 15:1 quick ratio, this is the same ratio/effort as 79-93 V8 and 85-86 SVO applications and an upgrade for 79-93 2.3 & 1984 SVO by improving lock to lock turning from 3 turns to 2.5 turns as well as a higher-effort performance steering feel!

Brand New Components
Utilizes brand-new components in this steering rack to ensure performance and durability that lasts. The quick ratio steering rack features new components throughout, including new inner tie rods and dust boots. The inlet and outlet ports are the factory thread to accept 83-93 style hoses and lines. New steering rack bushings are included to increase the longevity of your new rack and pinion. An optional filter is included with this rack to prevent debris from entering your power steering pump. From the factory, a filter was not present, but this filter can be added with modification to the hose. This steering rack has the correct factory threads for both tie rods and the correct spline count for the steering shaft.
