Mustang Power Steering Rack
Eliminate sloppy steering in your 1979-1993 Fox Body Mustang with this brand-new power steering rack! Normal wear and tear on your steering rack can result in excessive play in the steering wheel, as well as increased effort required to turn the wheel. This rack replaces your worn-out steering rack with a brand-new unit, providing improved steering response and reduced effort when turning the wheel, without the need to return a core or pay a core charge. This rack provides the same effort for a factory-like performance steering feel.
Brand New Components
Utilizes brand-new components in this steering rack to ensure proper performance and durability that lasts. The steering rack features new components throughout, including new inner tie rods and dust boots. The inlet and outlet ports are factory-threaded to accept 83-93 style hoses and lines. New steering rack bushings are included to increase the longevity of your new rack and pinion, preventing it from bottoming out. However, they can be easily removed to increase the steering angle, allowing for tighter turns. An optional filter is included with this rack to prevent debris from entering your power steering pump. From the factory, a filter was not present; however, it can be added by modifying the hose between the power steering cooler and the pump. This steering rack has the correct factory 9/16-18 threads for both tie rods and the correct spline count for the steering shaft.

Product Notes
- If using adapters for AN fittings, you must ensure they are installed properly, or it will blow the seal out. This will void your warranty if installed incorrectly.
- After installation, LMR recommends having a professional alignment shop make sure the toe is properly set and also ensure that your steering wheel is aligned correctly.
- This rack is designed to be used with the stock or replacement power steering pump for 79-93 Ford Mustangs. If using an aftermarket or non-stock pump due to an engine swap or accessory drive change, the manufacturer's maximum recommended pump flow is 1.585 gpm, and the maximum recommended pressure is 1160.3 psi.
- The supplied bushings preinstalled in the steering rack will need to be removed and the bushing swapped over from the old rack. New bushings are available - Steering Rack Bushings (85-04)
- New steering rack limiter bushings are pre-installed to increase longevity and prevent the rack from bottoming out. However, they can be easily removed to increase the steering angle, allowing for tighter turns.
