Mercon V fluid is backward compatible and meets OEM specifications for transmissions that call for Dexron/Mercon, Mercon III, and Mercon V. Motorcraft® MERCON® V is manufactured with high-viscosity index, premium-quality base oils, and specially designed performance additives, which provides excellent shifting characteristics at high and low ambient temperatures, as well as excellent thermal and oxidation resistance. It provides wear protection and inhibits the formation of gum, sludge, lacquer, and foam. Additionally, this fluid provides protection against rust and corrosion.
