    5 Stars   Econoshift T-5 Short Throw Shifter!!!!

    I just recently order this shifter with a adjustable clutch cable kit for my son's 94 GT. My first impression of the shifter is VERY good. Seeming very well made unit. The install was relatively easy and straight forward. We did watch a few install videos to eliminate any questions. The instructions were 8/10 but straight forward. I did use loctite "blue" on the bolts to eliminate any loosening.

    How it performs: WOW what a difference, the stock unit felt very sloppy and cheap compared to his one. The shift travel is way shorter and more precise. It will take a minute to get used to, but a major improvement none the less!

    I highly recommend it! I am curious how much better a more expensive unit would be, but I highly doubt twice the price!!!

    What are the extra springs for I got 3 of them but it looks n feels better then the stock one

    I bought this to replace my stock mustang shifter. As far as it being a short throw shifter I can't tell any difference from the stock unit, However it does shift better than the stock shifter. The positive stops are great, prevents you from bending the shift forks. If you are looking for a short throw shifter I suggest purchasing one of the more expensive ones. If your looking for a good replacement for your stock shifter this one works great.

    I watched the video online but decided to install with console in place. The lower shift boot frame is tough to get lined up during reassembly. Also my original T5 shifter was glued on good after 26 years. I loosened the spring set screws to install the new shifter flat onto the transmission. Don't forget to RTV the new one on a cleaned surface and loctite the fasteners of your new shifter. Protect interior and remove radio faceplate if new and have box ready to put the dirty old shifter in. Shifter Feels about 30% shorter throw and firmer engagement. I put the original Ford shifter knob on since my after market threads were too fine.

    I previously bought this exact shifter for my 1995 that I lost in a wreck in September and was happy to see go on sale again for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Install took maybe 30 minutes just because I knew what had to be done.

    While you can purchase the gasket kit, I found using RVT worked just as fine, especially if you apply to the handle parts, as this really cut down on noise/vibrations. Thread-locker is a must.

    Best part about it, is I can now use the front cup holder in my 1998

    My only complaint about it was that the shifter ball seemed to be a tad too large as I had trouble setting the shifter in (solved this by lubing it and slipping the dampener bushing cup over it)

    The ball on the econoshifter is definitely larger than stock shifter. So much so that I was looking in the box thinking they MUST have included a new and larger one. Then I looked to make sure I bought the right part... I am tempted to remove the bushing completely and run without because I think it may break on me it is so tight. I suppose a little grease and use could wear it in? I have seen a couple posts where people seem to have the same issue but no helpful responses. Any suggestions?

    The ball on the end of the shifter is .015 in. larger than the factory shifter and would not fit into the stock bushing. I tested this on my spare transmission with the same result. I ended up using a small flap sander in my drill press to remove about .011 in. from the i.d. of the bushing to make it fit.
    Stock shifter = .620 in
    Econoshift = .635 in
    Bushing id. = .626 in

    Shifts are much more positive than with the stock shifter.

    not a bad shifter for the money, generaly when you get a part like this it has install paper with it, i guess you do not get that with this shifter. good thing i have done this before. put blue locktite on shifter handle & stop screws they will come loose. install instructions would be helpfull for a first timer to know what the extra springs are for.

    For the price this shifter is amazing ! Yeah you can buy a hurst or steeda shifter which are better but compared to the money this thing is awesome! Of course watch the video and make sure to sure to use loctite , because the screws will back out if u don't. But after adding that and reassembling it all works awesome no more missed 3rd gear shifts!!

    I purchased this about a month ago as my shifter spring had become floppy and harder to get into gear. I was debating on this one or a MRT but they ran a sale and the price became almost a no brainer. Install was a little more difficult because I opted to not remove the console on my 93 cobra. This added about an hour because of the painfully slow rate of removing the bolts with a open ended wrench. The kit had no instructions so pay attention to the video. Once it was in, my knob was 180 at stop, so it looks weird, so I have a hurst t handle on order to replace the now upside down knob, but the shifting was very much improved from one-two and three to four. First gear and reverse are kind of hard to get in but hey it was $60 so I am willing to allow for that. I have it at low so perhaps I have less leverage for getting it in first. The shifts are nice and positive, much shorter by at least 50%. There is a little gear whine that is transmitted but I kind of like it.
    If you are looking for a great shifter for the money, this one is it. I have only had a 5.0 shifter before and this one compares well with it. Finding first was a little better, but its also half the cost, so I am very happy with it.

    I purchased this shifter on Cyber Monday to replace my worn out factory shifter in my 89 gt. The shifter comes with all new hardware needed to install and fits nice. The positive stops are a good addition and are easy to adjust. I do recommend using some locktite on the threads to make sure they hold tight and don't back out. Any questions I had were answered in the instructional video.

    I installed this shifter in my 97 Mustang base model. I just had to remove the shifter boot to access the old shifter. Installation was very easy since I also had the silicon gasket set . The shifts are very solid now with none of the old shifter's soft rubbery feel. Great price and well worth the upgrade.

    Much better than stock, Firm shifts and i like the shift stops that can prevent transmission fork damage. However personally i wasn't a fan of the shifter handle itself. Was a little to low for my liking and the spacing to mount the handle is much different than stock, i had to drill out my stock handle to accept this pattern and reattached my stock handle now. Much better feeling, the taller handle is a little more comfortable for me at least. A few of the drilled holes in the base needed some metal filed from them as well, nothing too crazy. Other than that it is a awesome shifter for the price.

    What is not to love about this shifter. It is a great value in shifter and much improved over stock. the shifts are more accurate and firm with a shorter throw. installation isn't too bad, you will need to watch the videos as no instructions were included with the product. I had to rewatch the video a couple times due to lack of instructions. the packaging of the product also wasn't the best. aside from those 2 things the product works great and is the best upgrade I've done to my mustang. Buy this shifter you will be happy with it.

Came across the SVE Econoshifter and decided to give it a try. It was perfect for what I was looking for. Took a bit to get use to the shorter shift, but it was so much nicer than stock. This is a perfect short throw shifter if you want to upgrade from your stock shifter but are not wanting to spend big bucks on a higher end shifter. It is a very quality made product for the price.

    No issues with installation. Not sure if the "issue" that I read about with the ball has been addressed, but the sleeve definitely slipped in and out of the factory shifter easier than the new one, but not to the point where shifting was made difficult by any means. I personally couldn't feel much difference at the upper setting, so I went to the lowest and then noticed it. Take time in learning how the transmission is now, might take a few days since it feels so much tighter than factory.

    After 43 years in the bays,33 with my ASE masters, I believe this was the quickest,easiest, and most appreciated repair I've done in years.
    Picked my customers 84 up and could hardly bring back to the shop.Factory shifter
    was so bad, I had to guess what gear was where. After repair, customer was shocked at the difference, and at the cost. He was prepared for a $500.00 tranny
    bill,not a $120.00, 1/2 hour shifter replacement.

    I purchased this shifter for my 88 LX Hatch. After install, there was no more sloppiness and shifts are nice n tight. For 70 bucks, it is a nice little upgrade and worth every penny.     Image uploaded by Michael L. Installed this on my 93 back in December and it works perfectly. The kit includes different return Springs and I used the stiffest ones to make it feel rock solid. The blue shifter arm height can be set higher or lower. I put it in the lower setting and no more leaning forward for fifth gear! Easy install, just put a new T5 into my fox and this shifter is staying in the car on the new transmission

    I must say I was a little worried about going for a cheaper shifter. Very glad I did now saved $100 vs other shifter and that's more money for new parts. Willing to bet you couldn't tell the difference between this shifter and a pro 5.0..... I know I can't and my cousin can't ether he says he wished he had saved money and went they route that I went. Love the feel when my car shifts now.

    I ordered a shifter for my mustang and it was exactly as I thought it would be. Fits great and shifts awesome. However, the convertible top cylinders were out of stock so I ended up ordering them from another company. This was not Late Model Restorations fault, just circumstances. Great service and on time delivery.

    Got this short throw shifter ordered and at my door the next day. No instructions in box but the video on the site was all I needed. Didn't have to remove console either which was a plus. Install took about 30-45 min. Test drove and man this shifter is stout! Feels great going in every gear. A real solid piece.

    i bought this shifter and so far, it will never go into second and will never go into reverse, the forks inside the transmission are starting to get messed up and am very frustrated with it, i would actually like to get into gear going down the track, not miss a gear...

    There is a reason there are a ton of great reviews for this shifter. Because it works great. I fail to see what spending more on all the other ones you see for sale could get you. You won't believe the difference from stock to this, far shorter, more crisp shifts.

    If you aren't trying to spend the extra money, this is a great shifter. It tightens up the stock play and shortens the throw significantly. It centers and lowers the knob a lot more which i like, makes it sort of feel like a "jdm" car when shifting.

    I have always run Steeda Tri-Ax, but figured for this price how bad could it be? It went in just fine, and I honestly can't feel a difference in the way it shifts compared to the Steeda, or the Hurst I have in my 04. I'd buy this again.

    Great shifter for the cost , hard to tell any difference between this one and the other higher end brands that I have owned . make sure you use blue thread lock and you will be good to go. easy install about 25-35 min at most

    Easy install. Didn't use the extra springs but it feels great. Firmer shifts less throw and I can use my front cup holder haha. Also love that the threads are the same as stock so you can reuse any knob. Highly recommend.

    Ain't gonna get a shifter like this for the price anywhere....was hesitant .... But then though ok for 69 bucks no big deal.... It's solid and built very well!! Very Happy can't wait to get it in the car.

    I just got the chance to put my shifter in. Hardware is very cheap. But the shifter itself is nice. Only problem im having is is my factory boot wont go back on because of the shift stop bolts.

    I just reciver my economic shifter from lmr. Install was a breeze. Makes driving my 98 gt stang a lot more fun. I I will definitely will be doing more bussniess with LMR.

    The holes in the base are way-too small for the 4 bolts. Had to bore them larger. Also, the video on this page omits the first several steps. Thinking of trying your competitor...

    Glad i purchased this shifter because when i installed the shifter i discovered a complete lack of a seal around the factory shifter base plate.

    I bought this to replace a stock shifter with a Pro 5.0 handle. I was having some first gear popout issues and overall sloppiness. This shifter feels great! Also, the handle puts the shifter a little closer in reach.

    The only issue I had was that the base plate bolt holes were a little tight when trying to push the bolts through, and the alignment of the shifter handle bolts seemed a little out of tolerance, but in the end, it bolted up and works great! You get what you pay for, and in the long run I am curious about how it'll hold up. Until then, I'll be bangin' gears!

    i bought the shifter hoping to get a smooth short throw and now i have a short throw hard shifting monster thats not easy to shift at all, and to make things worse i now have a whining sound that sounds like it coming from the rear end have to take it to the mechanic who put it in and see what is going on ,want to put the old original shifter back into it

    Looks and feels good but whoever drilled the holes for the shifter stop did so at A angle.Could only screw them in A couple turns could have sent it back for A replacement. But A 6 day turn around wasnt a option. had to redrill and tap the holes
