1994-1997 Mustangs utilizing the factory fuel tank will require using the stock 4 tab lock ring. OEM 4 tab lock rings are discontinued and not available at this time. The 3 tab lock ring included will not work with the factory tank.

It might just be that you need a new sending unit. 5.0 Resto offers this reproduction of the OEM fuel-sending unit to get your gauge reading correctly again. The 5.0 Resto reproduction unit comes with the fuel sender lock ring that holds it to the tank as well as the seal.

Fitment Note
1979-1986 Mustang Fuel Level Sending Unit Ohm Readings are approximately 73 ohms empty and approximately 10 ohms full.
1987-1997 Mustang Fuel Level Sending Unit Ohm Readings are approximately 22 ohms empty and approximately 145 ohms full.
