1983-1993 Mustang Speed Sensor & Cable Kit
Ensure the components to your speedometer are working properly with this 1983-1993 Mustang speed sensor and cable kit! 5.0 Resto combined the main speedometer components prone to failure in this all-in-one kit to ensure your speedometer reads accurately. In this kit, you'll receive a new speed sensor, speedometer cable, speed sensor electrical connection, and retaining bolt to hold everything in place. Speed sensors typically become saturated in oil, or the cable frays, which can cause symptoms such as a jumpy needle or the functionality of the speedometer and cruise control to become compromised. This makes it a priority to replace your Mustang's defective speed sensor components as soon as possible.
5.0 Resto Quality
5.0 Resto is dedicated to the preservation of the Fox Body, and it shows with this speedometer sensor and cable kit. The new sensor includes a hairpin clip that holds the cable in place as well as a new o-ring seal to prevent transmission fluid leaks. A new speed sensor electrical pigtail harness is included to replace your original. Simply cut and splice the new one in place and connect your new speed sensor. The correct, 71-1/2" speedometer cable is provided to connect the speed sensor from your instrument cluster all the way down to your transmission. 5.0 Resto includes a new, speed sensor attaching bolt to secure your new speed sensor in place.
Does My Mustang Have A Speed Sensor?
Will Have Speed Sensor:
- 1983-88 Mustangs w/ factory cruise control.
- 1989-93 Mustangs w/ or w/o factory cruise control.
Will Not Have Speed Sensor:
- 1983-88 Mustangs w/o factory cruise control. Excluding 1988 California models
Installation Note
Be very careful with the routing of the speedometer cable. If it comes within 1" of any exhaust component, it will need a fiber-based heat shield installed in that area and 6" past both directions for protection. Any bends in the cable should be long and sweeping as any sharp turns will cause immediate cable failure.
