What's in the Box
- (1) Set Twisted Wedge Cylinder Heads
Trickflow Twisted Wedge 44cc Heads Increase the horsepower and torque of your 1999-2004 SVT Lightning with a set of Trick Flow aluminum cylinder heads! The power comes from the patented Twisted Wedge 38cc combustion chamber design with the intake valve moved to the opposite side of the camshaft. The benefit is a dramatic increase in mid-lift airflow and increased piston-to-valve and valve-to-bore clearance that allow higher lift cams and larger diameter valves to be used without having to alter the bore size or fly cutting pistons. Other features include OE PI-style intake inlets, patented Fast As Cast™ intake/exhaust runners that deliver near CNC-ported airflow, fully CNC-profiled combustion chambers, bulletproof ¾ in. thick decks, four-bolt replaceable cam bearing journals, full ¾ in.-reach spark plugs, 1.840 in./1.450 in. valves, powdered metal valve guides, ductile iron valve seats, lightweight chromemoly retainers, and die-forged locks, beehive valve springs, and Viton® fluoroelastomer valve seals. The Twisted Wedge 185 series heads fit all 1996-2004 4.6L/5.4L 2V Romeo and Windsor engines and accept all OE-type 2V camshafts, followers, lash adjusters, and valve covers. Furthermore, 8mm end holes in the heads ensure that most OE Ford front covers will fit. Twisted Wedge 185 heads have 90 lb. rate (installed height) springs for mildly modified engines. Bare cylinder head castings are also available.
Note These require timing cover bolt and stud kit TFS-51954TCB.
Application Fits 1999-2004 SVT Lightning
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
- What is the supercharger pulley size that fits those heads to fill the chamber perfectly? Without loosing the pressure inside the chamber? "Will use the stock bottom and inertial parts Crack shaft, roads, and pistons."
or does it make a difference if I use any of them unless when pushing more boost ? - There are a ton of variables to consider before purchasing either the 38cc or 44cc Trickflow heads. Based on your question, you obviously will have forced induction via a supercharger.
The 38cc heads will raise your compression by roughly a half of a point, whereas the 44cc heads will keep you pretty much at the stock 8.5:1 compression ratio. Other than that, these heads produce the same flow numbers.
Regardless of how much boost you plan on running, both heads will flow more air and produce more power than stock 'PI' heads.
