2003 Ford Mustang Specs, Horsepower, & Features

2003 marked a big year for the Mustang. A stand-out for the V6 models were the Mustang pony package. This pony package combines 16-inch, polished-aluminum wheels, unique stripping with "Mustang Stampede" graphics, a special rear bumper with blackened "Mustang", GT hood and scoop, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The all-new Mach 1 was debuted featuring a 305HP DOHC V8 and a functional shaker hood scoop. The SVT Cobra was reinvented and featured a supercharged 4.6L DOHC V8 that produced 390HP out of the box. Both of these new designs helped the Mustang become what it is today!

Exploring more of the 2003 Mach 1, the engine makes use of specially calibrated cams, modified upper intake to accommodate the ram air system, a forged crank, and performance exhaust manifolds. For the suspension, the Mach 1 was lowered a 1/2" and is equipped for a firmer suspension for improved handling. This new handling package included new front and rear coil springs with adapted load and rate, shocks and struts, unique stabilizer bars for the front and rear, and added frame connectors. Mach 1 colors included black, dark shadow grey, zinc yellow, azure blue, torch red, and oxford white.

Going in-depth with the 2003 Cobra, the widely loved V8 engine was equipped with an Eaton supercharger and new aluminum-alloy cylinder heads. This engine was also built on a cast-iron block that contains the carryover forged-steel crankshaft. This was fitted with the new Manley forged "H-beam" connecting rods, forged pistons that were similar to the SVT Lightning, and an aluminum flywheel that was similar to the 2000 SVT Cobra R's.
