Fox Body Mustang Horn Button Pad Repair Kit

Does the horn in your Fox Mustang just randomly honk… or for some reason honks ALL of the time? Well, what typically causes this issue, is a deteriorated foam pad that sits between the horn contact plates within the horn pad on the steering wheel. 5.0Resto offers a simple horn button repair kit that will restore the proper function to your Fox’s horn.

The kit will include a new foam pad made from a more durable material as well as a Scotch-Brite pad to clean the copper contact points. Follow along guys, as we walk you through the steps on installing the 5.0Resto horn button repair kit into this ’89 GT.

Required Tools

Flat Head Screwdriver

Install

Start by removing the horn assembly from the steering wheel.
Roll the horn back and unplug the electrical connections.
Remove the vinyl cover from the horn button.
Remove the copper contact plate from the plastic housing.
Clean both contact plates using the provided Scotch Brite Pad.
It may help to use some glass cleaner or soapy water while cleaning the plates.
Install the new rubber pad between the contact plates and then reassemble your horn.
Check for operation, and you’re all done!

What’s going on guys, Landan here with LMR! Today I’m going to be taking a look at 5.0Resto’s Horn Button Repair Kit fitting all 87-89 Fox Body Mustangs!
