How To Install Fox Body Mustang Inner Door Handle (79-93)

With a not-so-durable plastic construction, the 79-93 Mustang inner door handles are well known for breakage and failure. The trim bezels that go over the inner door handles are even more prone to cracking and breaking and oftentimes are missing altogether. These 50Resto replacement handles are top quality and the best currently available. They are textured like the originals and are a direct fit for 1979-1993 Mustang. NOTE: Removing the door panel to replace the inner door handle is optional, but it does make life easier. Check out our Fox Mustang Door Panel Removal Video for more info. A screw, disengage the latch rod and done. Literally takes minutes! Pick up your 50Resto door handles individually or in a complete kit with new trim bezels.

JONATHAN MCDONALD: Hey everybody, JMAC here. And I'm going to show you how to remove the inner door handle on your Fox Mustang. Entirely simple, but you do have to remove your door panel to get to it. For more information on that, check out our YouTube channel or latemodelrestoration.com. Now, you want to grab your Phillips head screwdriver and remove the single Phillips head screw holding on the door handle to the door. Flat blade screwdriver and pry down on the little tabs at the front, and give it a sharp little hit, and it should break free of the door.

Now you can pull it out, lift up, and slide it off the door latch rod. Grab your new door handle, on the back side you've got the same type of attachment. You want to go ahead and slide it on to the latch rod down and go ahead and engage it in the door, line up all the tabs, slide it back, and one sharp, little hit should engage it. And then you can put your screw right back in. And that is how simple it is to change out your inner door handle, slap your door panel back on, and you're good to go. You can open your door again.
