1999 to 2004 Mustangs do not have the most durable cowl vent grille. The cowl panel on these cars is located between the base of the windshield and the back of the hood, and is prone to some unsightly fading, and will crack up into pieces over time. Luckily, we have a brand new direct replacement for the original, and we're going to show you just how easy it is to install.
Start by removing your driver's side windshield wiper, pick up slightly on the wiper arm, and remove the locking tab. Lift the arm away from the car. Do the same on the passenger side. Then pop your hood, remove the firewall to hood seal. Then remove the three push pins retainers along the top of the firewall.
Unclip the cowl panel, remove the washer nozzle hose from both sides, and remove your old panel from the car. Remove all six metal clips from your old cowl panel, followed by the two windshield washer nozzles. Grab your new cowl panel, install the six metal retaining clips, the two windshield washer nozzles, and slide the driver side corner into place. Go to the passenger side, position that corner, make sure the center locating tab is on its hole, and then snap the six clips in the place. Under the hood, install your three push pins, followed by the firewall to hood seal, lower the hood, and reinstall both of your wiper arms.
And there you go. It really is that simple. You can do this in your driveway with nothing more than a screwdriver. And if you're missing any of your factory hardware, don't worry. We have brand new replacements available on latemodelrestoration.com. You can pick them up the same time you're grabbing your new '99 to '04 cowl panel.
