How To Install 1979-86 Mustang A/C Vent Anti Rattle Kit

Are the A/C vents in your Four-Eyed Fox Body Mustang rattling? Thanks to 5.0 Resto, this common issue has a simple and easy fix. Please note in this video we are only showing the driver side since the passenger side a/c register assembly is a little more difficult to get to. The passenger side piece is held by (2) palnuts on the back side of the dash.

1. The instrument bezel surround comes out by removing the (3) phillips head screws located underneath the dash pad.




2. Once those are removed tilt the bezel towards you and then out to remove it.




3. To remove one of the vent registers, carefully depress either the top or bottom tab and then slide it out of the bezel.




4. Remove the old foam and adhesive from the instrument bezel.




5. Use this time to clean any dirt and dust build up.




6. Install one of the provided strips into place.




7. Once the entire surround is installed you will need to trim the excess.




8. Remove the old felt and adhesive from the A/C register.




9. Take the time to clean these if needed.




10. Cut one of the felt pieces in half and apply to the rearward halves of the top and bottom of the A/C registers.




11. Do this for the other areas and you’re good to go!
