This 1987-89 Mustang upper & lower column cover set covers the turn signal switch, ignition switch, & steering column in your tilt wheel equipped 1987-1989 Mustang LX or GT. This includes the upper & lower half and is molded in black in the original texture. Each cover is made from original Ford tooling to ensure a perfect fit on your Mustang!
Installation Note:
- As these covers come out of the mold, the finish is not a perfect match to the interior. For best results, we recommend painting to match.

What’s up guys? Landan with LMR.com! In this video, I’ll be talking about 5.0 Resto’s steering column shroud kit intended for the 1987 to 1989 Mustangs.
As many times as most Fox Mustangs have been taken apart and put back together; something is always broken and/or missing.
An interior part that I always see damaged or missing in 87 to 89 Mustangs is the upper and lower shrouds located at the steering column.
These shrouds cover unsightly intricate parts such as the column itself, the multi-function switch and the host of wires associated with this general area.
The 1987 to 1989 upper and lower shroud snap together and then are secured using (3) Phillips head screws.
5.0 Resto’s steering column shroud kit is manufactured from Ford tooling and features an OE-like texture to ensure a factory-like fit and finish.
These are molded in durable black plastic and will fit 1987 to 1989 Mustangs equipped with the tilt steering wheel.
Installing the upper and lower shroud is very easy… Remove the (3) retaining screws with a Phillips head screwdriver.
Carefully remove each shroud from the steering column.
Position the new shrouds into place and start one of the screws. Verify that the upper and lower shrouds are aligned and then install the other (2) screws.
Carefully tighten each screw and then you’re all finished.
Now a little disclosure on these shrouds… Remember, this is molded plastic. When you take it out of the package you may need to wipe both pieces with some isopropyl alcohol to remove any mold release agents.
It’s also a good idea to condition the plastic parts with a high-quality water-based dressing to help protect the plastic from sun exposure.
For those of you that have an interior with some fading on adjacent panels, it may be in your best interest to grab some of our paint and get everything looking new again. You may even consider painting the brand new part to obtain a closer match to your interior.
If this is something you choose to do, reference our detailed video on how to properly paint interior components.
