[MUSIC PLAYING] Hey, what's going on, everyone? Landan with latemodelrestoration.com. Today, we're going to be checking out 5.0Resto's adjustable clutch cable kit. This kit is a perfect upgrade for your aging factory hardware or if you're installing a more performance-oriented clutch. It will include an adjustable clutch cable, firewall adjuster, and billet aluminum quadrant, which will fit all '82 to '95 5 liter and '94 to '04 V6 Mustangs.

The extreme duty adjustable clutch cable is Teflon lined and will provide the exact adjustment needed to get your clutch pedal position right where you want it. Making adjustments on the fly is effortless thanks to the billet aluminum firewall adjuster. This will feature the popular quick click design that allows for quarter turn adjustments, instead of requiring an annoying jam nut. The last, but probably the most important item in the kit, is the billet aluminum clutch quadrant. This quadrant is stronger than the factory plastic pieces, which will allow for the added stress of performance applications.

We have had a ton of questions regarding how difficult this kit is to install. Where and how do these parts go on? Surprisingly, it's actually not difficult at all, and you can do it right at home. We're going to show you how to install the 5.0Resto adjustable clutch cable kit on this '94 GT.

Start by placing the car on a lift or jack stands. Next, loosen the clutch fork dust cover bolt with a 5/16 socket and remove the cover. Using a pry bar, push the clutch fork forward, which will allow you to slip in the cable through the large hole in the fork. Then, remove the clutch cable retaining clip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it forward through the bell housing. Locate the clutch cable bracket and remove it from the frame rail with a 3/8 inch socket.

Moving to the inside of a car, locate the factory plastic quadrant just above the gas pedal. Pull the end of the clutch cable over the fangs on the quadrant. While you're there, go ahead and remove the cotter pin from the quadrant shaft. Then, pry the quadrant and the spring off of the shaft. Remove the cotter pin from the self-adjusting gear as well.

The trick to removing the self-adjusting gear is to flip the end of the spring over the arm first. Then, slide the gear off of the shaft. With your hood open, unbolt the head of the cable from the firewall with a 5/16 inch socket. Go ahead and remove the factory clutch cable completely from the car.

To install your new adjustable cable, start by filing down the four small tabs on the head of the cable and remove the rubber bushing. Next, install the billet aluminum firewall adjuster using the factory bolt. You will notice this adjuster has three holes. Don't worry. It is designed to fit all '79 to '04 Mustangs, which all have different mounting points. Then, go ahead and thread the two portions together and slide the adjustable cable through the firewall adjuster.

Back inside the car, install the billet clutch quadrant over the two shafts and reinstall both factory cotter pins. Then, place the end of the cable over the fangs on the quadrant. To prevent the end of the cable from jumping off of the quadrant, I always recommend securing it with a rubber band, like this. Reroute your cable and run it through the hole in the bell housing.

Reinstall your clutch cable retainer clip and tighten down the cable bracket. Run the end of the cable through the clutch fork and thread the adjusting nut until it touches the fork. The clutch should engage when the pedal is about three inches from the floor. Take this time to make any adjustments and then thread the lock nut up against the adjusting nut. Reinstall the dust cover, and you're finished.
