94-04 Inner Door Cables
How’s it going everyone, Jay here with LMR.com. Today we will be covering the removal and installation of your inner door handle cables covering all 1994-2004 Mustangs.
Over time, these cables can become worn out. Opening your door in your Mustang is something you do repeatedly, which results in expedited wear to your door components. Let's head over to our 04 GT here in the shop to show you how this is done.
First, start off by removing the inner door panel. Check out the link on the description below to show you how this one is done.
Next you will need to remove the moisture barrier if equipped.
Moving to the inner door handle, this will also need to be removed to gain access to the cable. Check out the link in the description below to show you how to get this one removed.
Once you have the cable free from the inner door handle, remove the cable from the three attaching clips along the door frame.
Next, you will need to go inside the door to remove the other end from the latch. Take your time here, this one can be a little tedious due to the tight spaces.
Now that the old cable is off you can go back in with the new cable. Slip the cable end into place on the latch first.
Reinstall the cable onto your clips
Then reattach the cable on the handle.
Reinstall the door handle to the door frame.
Check over your work and verify proper operation, then you can reinstall your moisture barrier and door panel and you are all done.
Well everyone, this one is an easy job to do. There is nothing worse than having one of these inner door cables fail, but as you can see, this one is a simple task to get this job done.
These should take you about 30 mins to an hour per side from start to finish. Some of your tools will include, assorted screwdrivers, a drill, socket set, and a rivet gun and assorted pliers.
