(1) Floor Carpet w/ 1/2" Jute Padding
Dark Charcoal Carpet for Mustang Coupe & Convertible
Replacing the carpet in your Mustang is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve the conditions of your interior. It is a simple, one person installation and can be done in just one day. Our high-quality ACC carpet is pre-formed and molded to fit your Mustang for a seamless, OE look. Carpet comes with the factory style heel pad securely attached and will re-carpet the entire passenger area from the firewall to the back seat. Installation will require cutting for bolt holes and trimming of excess material.
ACC pre-formed, molded Mustang floor carpet is made of heavy weight 16oz cut-pile carpeting combined with 40oz jute padding. This combination makes for a beautiful, long-wearing carpet. This weight coupled with a factory style backing gives your new Mustang carpet a "mold memory". Once it’s installed, it continues to shape itself to the contours of your floor. Remember, when you take it out of the carton, the weight of the carpet and padding will tend to cause it to "flatten out" but once it’s on the floor of your Mustang, it will return to shape.
Jute sound deadening material helps insulate your Mustang from road noise and engine heat. ACC jute sound deadening meets federal standards for flammability retardation. It’s the perfect beginning when replacing your Mustang's carpet and to increase its durability.
Cut Pile Carpet Style
As is the case with many late model vehicles the late model Ford Mustang came from the factory with cut-pile style carpet. Cut-pile carpet is a form of carpet that involves a strategic cut of the loops that are created during the weaving of a carpet. The loops are cut to the same height and allowed to tuft slightly. This approach gives the carpet pile the appearance of softness and often appears to be very dense and provides a cushion for the foot.

This was installed in to a 2001 Ford Mustang GT Coupe. Installation Time: 6-8 hours over 2-days. I really took my time on this project. I did everything like the videos that I had seen suggested, so I would recommend watching any/all videos about the carpet replacement. Day 1 - Project: Take out carpet. I removed the front seats, back-seat bottom, kick-panels, tabs, center console (Most difficult part of the installation is the removal and re-installation of the center console). The center console requires the disconnect of the emergency break from the floor board. It was pretty difficult to get the emergency break realigned during the re-installation, and I would say that it took me almost 1-hour to finally get the center console alone put back in the vehicle. Once everything is removed, the carpet came out rather easily. Day 2 - Project: Clean Interior and Install Carpet, then reassemble vehicle. I took a lot of time cleaning out the exposed interior so as to get the vehicle in the best condition as possible and to eliminate any dusty/dirty smells that have accumulated over the years. Make sure to follow the pre-cuts from the old carpet and make the cuts on the new carpet prior to installation. The new carpet lined up perfectly. Make sure to work your way from the console out when re-installing the interior pieces. Any other cuts required a pretty straight forward. Make sure to have a vacuum handy so that once the carpet is installed and all interior pieces are re-installed, as I would recommend vacuuming the carpet before putting in your floor mats. Project Done! I have received numerous comments on the new carpet, as well as, the odors that once existed are now gone. I am no longer sneezing when I spend time in the vehicle.
Yes, I would recommend this item to a friend!

Installing carpet takes time. If you are in a hurry wait for another day. The most difficult task is removing the center console. First remove the foam from bottom of black cubby under arm rest - remove two screws. Remove the shifter handle turning CCW. Remove boot section by gently pulling up plastic action to expose the two screws fastening console to dash - remove two screws and place shifter towards rear of vehicle. Disconnect electrical connections. Console is now loose. Now the most difficult task - E-brack handle must be raised about 80 degrees off floor to have clearance to remove console. To raise handle, remove the screw (7MM hex wrench) from side of E-brake handle and lift off ratchet lock bracket. Lift ratchet paw up with thumb and with other hand lift E-brake upward as far as possible (80 degrees). Pictures taken after console removed to make easier to view. Good Luck and throttle on!
