These retainers are responsible for properly securing the hood insulator to your hood. The underhood insulator plays a vital role in your Mustang's engine bay by serving as a blanket in the winter and a shield in the summer. When your engine heats up, the insulator protects the paint on your hood from heat damage. Over time the insulator retainers can become worn or go missing causing the hood insulator to become loose.
