Replacement charcoal canisters have been available for years, but you had to reuse your often brittle caps if you even still had them. 5.0 Resto is proud to offer brand new caps with brand new caps to properly seal the canister to keep in the pellets and to keep out dirt, moisture and debris as well. Made from a durable plastic construction, these caps match the factory dimensions and tolerances. Each cap is molded in a black finish to match for a factory appearance. These caps simply pop into place on your charcoal canister with no modifications required for installation!
What Is A Charcoal Canister?The fuel vapor charcoal canister is located on the right-hand front frame rail behind the radiator. Its basic purpose is to help protect the environment and increase fuel mileage. It does this by capturing fuel vapors and preventing them from escaping into the atmosphere. It then stores the fumes and sends them back to the fuel tank or engine intake for combustion as needed. Over the years, the charcoal will stop absorbing vapor effectively which requires the canister to be changed.
