This steering shaft assembly is required when converting your 1994-2004 Mustang V6, GT or Cobra to a manual steering rack, as it has the correct splines. It will also sharpen your Mustang’s steering response. The factory rubber rag joints are replaced with race-quality needle-bearing U-joints, resulting in greatly improved steering response.
I purchased one about two years ago. I painted it with high temp engine enamel, prior to installation. Installation went flawlessly, and along with polyurethane steering rack bushings, the new shaft greatly improved steering feel and feedback over stock. By tightening everything up in the steering, my 01 Bullitt is far more predictable through corners. And the amount of sawing at the steering wheel is reduced, since there is far less flex from bushings and shaft. As always, Maximum Motorsports made a very quality part.
