5 Stars   Solid Product once installed
By on 12/15/2014
Image uploaded by Craig S. Product wrapped very efficiently. Box arrived a little beat up, but the Brace was in fine shape. Also purchased the MM Camber/Caster Plates. Installation procedure is as follows (for my 38 year old 79 Mercury Capri with 230,000 HARD miles):
1) Test fit with the Firewall Bolts loosely installed.
2) Decided to start with Pass side, so I left the firewall bolt loosely installed. Had to loosen the C/C Plate and then pressed the bar down to be as close to seated on the strut tower.
3) Marked TOP holes, took bar off, drilled holes, reinstalled pass side firewall bolt and installed top bolts on tower bracket to pull bar flush to the tower.
4) Drilled 3rd bracket hole toward front of car.
5) Threaded Driver's side Firewall Bolt and pressed bar down to strut tower. (I actually used a screwdriver to pry against the camber plate to push it to the tower).
6) Drilled top holes and installed bolts, then drilled front hole and installed bolts.
7) Tightened all bolts and reinstalled all the components that had to be removed or repositioned.
I am sure each vehicle will be a little different, based on original manufacturing tolerances and abuse levels throughout the life of the car. This is the third complete suspension replacement/upgrade since I bought it new in 1979.

5 Stars   Strut Tower brace

The Maximum Motorsports Strut Tower brace I purchased worked out great.
I have a 1986 Mustang with a 331 engine upgrade , which is carbureted. It has a QA1 K member and the engine sits back 1 Inch. I did have to shim the strut brace at the strut tower mounts to clear the distributor . Also the distributor cap can be removed along with the distributor housing without taking the brace off.The strut brace is a high quality construction with excellent welds.

4 Stars   Nicely made, slight fit issue

Image uploaded by Chad H. I have pretty much the entire MM suspension under my 1984 GT - K frame, control arms, torque arm, cc plates, steering shaft, rack bushings, tie rod ends, panhard bar etc.. The strut tower brace was the completing piece. Like every other MM part, the welds and construction are fantastic. I could not install it on my car without some additional fabrication work however.

I am running Konis and coilovers in the front along with the MM caster/camber plates. The MM plates sit much higher than their stock counterparts, and the strut tower brace would not clear on the passenger side. The tube that runs to the firewall is right over the CC plate and prevents it from seating on the strut tower. I'm sure that they probably clear the stock plates just fine.

I fabricated two 3/16" spacers to raise the mounts far enough off the strut towers to allow the tube to clear my passenger side plate. It was no big deal, but I was surprised that the instructions made no mention of it considering that many of the people running MM caster/camber plates are also going to run the MM STB. Nonetheless, it's a great looking and well made part and I'm sure it will work great.

Image uploaded by Robert B. The maximum motorsport strut tower fit great. Only had to relocate vacuum relay bracket and drill hole for good stability. Works perfect! 1984 Ford Mustang GT
