Product Description

PROTHANE 1-5/16" Sway Bar Bushings W/ MM-MMFSB50 Sway Bar Relocation

This is a pair of Prothane front sway bar bushing with brackets intended for use on a 1985-1993 Ford Mustang that is equipped with a Maximum Motorsports front K-member with off set control arms, stock 1-5/16" sway bar and Maximum Motorsports sway bar relocation kit. These bushings have long life urethane material and will increase the handling capabilities of your Mustang!

Note

- For use with MM-MMFSB50 sway bar relocation brackets only.
- Use of these sway bar brackets with stock K-member and arms can cause oil pan damage!

Application

- Fits 1985-1993 Mustang equipped with Maximum Motorsports MM-MMFSB50 sway bar relocation kit with factory sway bar.


Bushing Lubrication The suspension bushings included with this part can only be lubricated with PTFE grease, also referred to as "Marine Grease". PTFE grease is a very sticky, opaque grease that is water proof and will not degrade the bushing material. If lubed properly at installation, these bushings will not need to be lubricated again. Use of any other grease on these bushings will cause the bushing to fail and any bushing warranty to be voided.

    3 Stars   Swaybar Hits Oil Pan

    bought theses bushing to replace my factory bushings that had the spacer missing on one side.
    The new bushing come with mounts that replace factory ones and they bolt directly to the mounting plate inside engine compartment.
    They are nice pieces and it all went smoothly till i put car back on ground. When i started to move car I noticed a sound that never had before. come to find out the front sway bar is now hitting the oil pan. As the new bushings/brackets dont have the drop down spacer to move the sway bar away from front of pan.
    Has anyone else had this problem?
    I'm thinking if i can make an 1 1/2 spacer to go between new bushing/brackets and the mounting plate on car it will be back to normal.

    Bought these a month ago for my fox, easy to install and feel so much better than the stock rubber. But I missed the part where the product warned about oil pan damage. I hit too hard of a bump in the road and about took the front off of it. Double check your spacing before you intall.

    I had to modify the retainer nut bracket, the lock device holing it into the chassis mount had to be remove to allow flush mount to the busings to mount flush to the frame bracket, washers were required to prevent head of bolt from pulling through the mount slot. Had to back off the A frame tension/retention blots to enable enough movement to move the torsion bar up and into its new mounting location.

    I did not see the small pouch of lube (I used grease, now I have to de-install and use the lube that came it the box.

    ** ALSO used emery cloth to remove debris off the torsion bar mount location so it would be clean and good fit with the new bushings **

    Lifted or lowered suspensions, increases in horsepower, plus-size wheels and tires can subject traditional rubber suspension bushings to forces beyond their limits. Control arms, strut arms, leaf springs, body mounts, motor mounts, transmission mounts, sway bars and shocks all control movement and maintain alignment but the rubber bushings they use are designed for more "middle of the road" use. Rubber also deteriorates over time, further reducing control. This contributes to premature component failure, a "spongy" ride and less than ideal performance handling. Urethane bushings can correct these conditions, and improve drivability in your Mustang or Ford Lightning.
