Product Description

BBK GT Long Tube Headers
Each BBK Full length header system is CAD designed and manufactured with 1 5/8"" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestrictive airflow and a one piece 3/8” laser cut flange for added strength and durability.ALL BBK exhaust headers are pressure tested to ensure leak free performance. Each BBK full length exhaust header system has been designed and dyno tested at the BBK headquarters in Southern California for Maximimum performance. Results have shown an additional 14-22 rear wheel horsepower over stock.

BBK’s Mustang full length headers are recommended for built engines and high performance applications. They offer BBK’s distinctive quality that guarantees many years of top performance.

These BBK CNC Series full length headers for the 1996-2004 Mustang GT are available with optional high-temp Silver polished ceramic coating or a chrome finish.

All exhaust header kits include new gaskets and hardware.

Fitment Note

- BBK full length headers requires Catted H-Pipe BBK-1538, Catted X-Pipe BBK-1638, Off Road H-Pipe BBK-1635 or Off Road X-Pipe BBK-1635 to complete installation to the cat-back exhaust system
- BBK full length headers only fit standard 5 speed transmissions

    5 Stars   Great sound, great power

    These headers are great, sound great, give great power gains. Install is easier if you have a tubular K member, but not required. I like to use the Ford or Felpro gaskets instead of the BBK gaskets. Do yourself a favor and get a flexible oil dipstick tube (they are cheap) because the factory one won't fit with the longtubes.

    I am far from a real mechanic, but I can hold my own against Joe Average and this install kicked my butt. Full exhaust from heads to tailpipes took around 30 total hours. A couple of tips from an untrained weekend knucklebuster.
    1. Drop the K-member, it's a lot of work, but worth the extra room.
    2. If you don't have a cherry picker, get an engine support bar that provides height adjustment. Lowering the engine allows great access to the header bolts.
    3. Buy the O2 sensor extension cords (should be required with header purchase).
    4. Fish the oil dipstick through the driver's side header before bolting it in place.
    5. Leave a couple of the factory studs in place to locate the header & gasket, get a couple of new bolts in place before removing the last studs.
    6. Be prepared to grind down a couple of the new bolts, the driver's side has a tube or two that are too close to the flange to fit the bolt in.
    Loads of work, but I learned a ton about the front end of my car and the sound with the H-pipe and Flowmasters sounds like a smoother version of my '68 302.

    5 Stars   Nice headers, but there is an issue.

    I have had these headers on my car for about a year. I just took the heads off of my car because im doing some upgrades. After taking my headers off of the heads, i realized that the motor mount on the passenger side is ramming into one of the tubes ALMOST poking a hole through it. This is not BBK's fault in my opinion, because there is almost no room for adjustments in the design of these headers anyways since the width of the 4.6l is bigger than a big block chevy (Valve cover to valve cover). I would suggest not using rubber motor mounts with these headers since the torque tilts the motor over on the passenger side under power, so you might have some issues. LMR sells solid motor mounts for a little over $80... Take my advice and buy them to protect a $600 pair of headers and have some peace of mind. Other than that i am getting a little bit of rust down at the collector, you cant see it unless you are laying under the car so it does not bother me too much.

    Overall the headers install very well, nothing against BBK but i used felpro gaskets instead of the ones they gave me and have not had any leaks, the flange's going to the heads are very smooth.

    You can hear a tone change in the car without a doubt, i also bought the BBK uncatted X pipe to go along with these. The headers, X pipe, and no mufflers pairs for a very loud experience but a little too raspy for me. I have heard a car with BBK headers and an uncatted H pipe and it sounds fantastic so i will be switching soon.

    3 Stars   Awesome Sound and Fit, Disappointing Finish

    The Good: The sound with these (paired with the catted H-pipe and Flowmaster American Thunder catback), is great! Low rumble at idle, noticeable growl at lower RPM and really opens up at higher RPM, just as you should expect with a long tube setup. Both sides fit just as advertised, no modifications necessary.

    The Bad: While it was quite a chore to install these, it was mostly due to the fact that I had never dropped a K-member before, but now that I have, it's not too bad at all. Definitely easier than pulling the engine up. That's really more on the Ford engineers than on BBK.

    The Ugly: I installed these headers on my '99 GT two years ago in April. Had to change the clutch two weeks ago and when I took off the passenger side header to drop the trans, I see that the coating on the headers is flaking off and the tubes are rusting. This is a daily driver in a four season climate so I guess the ceramic coating just wasn't fit to hold up to that environment.

    Ipurchase 8 months ago ceramic starting to rust in certain areas call manufacturer BBK they said send back will send new pair how can I too much work taking them off and put them back on so I guess I'll deal with it other than that lots of horsepower and torque
