Power Steering Rebuild KitReplace the leaking power steering system and whining pump on your 1979-1993 5.0 Mustang with this premium power steering rebuild kit! Normal wear and tear on your steering components results in too much play in the steering wheel as well as an increased effort to turn the wheel. When your Mustang is difficult to steer and has a slow steering response, the power steering pump or steering rack may be the culprit. To eliminate these issues entirely, this solution-based kit not only eases the effort required to steer but also eliminates pesky leaks and deteriorated components. A brand-new steering rack, power steering pump, and all necessary lines, clamps, and even a filter are supplied to completely restore the system, eliminating the need to return a core or pay a core charge.

Suggested PartsInstallation Notes- The supplied bushings preinstalled in the steering rack will need to be removed and the bushing swapped over from the old rack. New bushings are available - Steering Rack Bushings (85-04)
- New steering rack limiter bushings are pre-installed to increase longevity and prevent the rack from bottoming out. However, they can be easily removed to increase the steering angle, allowing for tighter turns.
- If using adapters for AN fittings, you must ensure they are installed properly, or it will blow the seal out. This will void your warranty if installed incorrectly.
- After installation, LMR recommends having a professional alignment shop make sure the toe is properly set and also ensure that your steering wheel is aligned correctly.
- It is STRONGLY recommended to flush the old fluid out of the system to remove any contaminants. Failure to do so can result in premature pump failure and noise.
- This rack in this kit is designed to be used with the stock or stock replacement 79-93 Ford Mustang power steering pump. If using an aftermarket or non-stock pump due to an engine swap or accessory drive change, the manufacturer's MAX recommended pump flow is 1.585gpm, and the MAX recommended pressure is 1160.3psi.
Power Steering Pump and Rack Warranty Info:The manufacturer currently warrants the pump and rack to be free of manufacturer defects under a non-transferable limited lifetime warranty. Failure due to abuse, misuse, neglect, alteration, racing or off-road use, or use with incompatible associated parts will not be covered under warranty. Cost of removal, installation, and incidental or consequential damage are expressly excluded.
