1996-1997 Mustang Quantum 255 LPH Fuel Pump Cobra Don't worry about having enough fuel flow for your high-horsepower 1996-1997 SVT Cobra with this 255LPH Quantum fuel pump with installation kit! The Quantum electric fuel pump features a compact, lightweight design that will drop into your existing hanger assembly. This fuel pump boasts an impressive 255 LPH flow rate to keep up with your engine's power. The fuel pump is ideal for applications requiring increased flow, while retaining the factory wiring, tank, and fuel lines. Supplied with the fuel pump are all of the needed parts for installation, including the rubber isolator, fuel safe hose, clamps, pigtail connector, filter, and fuel pump hat O-ring.
Quantum Technology A key feature of our Quantum fuel pump is the bypass valve, which is set at a higher PSI than others, making it especially suited to turbocharged and supercharged engines. A clean sheet vane-impeller design lends itself to quieter operation compared to other in-tank pumps. Instead of the vibrating hum that is usually associated with aftermarket fuel pumps, Quantum pumps produce a very faint "wheen" sound during priming and are virtually silent when the engine is running. The corrosion-resistant case and internals are compatible with modern ethanol-infused pump gasoline to help minimize seizing during non-operation.
Symptoms of a Failing Fuel Pump
Loss of Power: Your Mustang may struggle or hesitate when accelerating, climbing hills, or under heavy loads because the failing pump cannot keep up with high fuel demands.
Sputtering & Misfiring: An inconsistent fuel supply can cause the engine to jerk or sputter, particularly at high speeds.
Trouble Starting: If your engine cranks for much longer, or takes a few tries to start, it is often a sign that it is struggling to build the pressure. In advanced stages of failure, the pump may stop functioning entirely.
Frequent Stalling: The engine may randomly shut off at low speeds or at red lights when the pump fails to deliver enough fuel to keep the engine idling.
Loud Whining: A worn-out pump often emits a constant, high-pitched buzzing or whining sound from beneath the rear seat or trunk where the gas tank resides.
Poor Fuel Economy: A faulty pump might pump too much or improperly atomize the fuel, resulting in a sudden and unexplained drop in your miles per gallon
