2004 marked the 40th anniversary year of the Mustang and the last year of the New Edge. This was the last year that the Cobra was produced. This was also the last of the Mach 1 as well, but recently has made resurgence! The all-new Mustang would receive a complete overhaul in the upcoming years and be further known as the S197!
The special 40th-anniversary models were available in exclusive Crimson Red Exterior, as well as Black and Oxford white. The Mach 1 added a functional "shaker" hood scoop, unique 17" wheels, full-size spare, Comfortweave leather seats, rolled tip dual exhaust, and unique suspension tuning with lowered ride height.
For the 2004 Cobra it had two new exterior colors which were Competition Orange and Screaming Yellow. New Dark Charcoal preferred suede seat inserts were available in addition to Medium Graphite inserts. In addition, only 1,000 SVT Cobra coupes and convertibles were available with the new Mystichrome Appearance Package. This Mystichrome Package had shifting paint that moves from Green to Blue to Purple and finally Black.
