The Mustang charcoal canister is located on the passenger side (RH) frame rail between the anti-sway bar mount and the radiator. It filters and retains fuel vapors from the gas tank (fuel tank) and prevents them from entering the atmosphere. Under cruise conditions, the PCM opens the Mustang canister purge valve and allows those vapors to be burnt off in the normal combustion process of the engine.
