A good rule of thumb for any Fox Body Mustang project is if you want to add some performance parts (cold air intake, exhaust, cam, etc.) to your Ford Mustang, and your ignition system is still the factory components time for an upgrade. If you look at simple bolt-on performance aftermarket parts, you will be fine with upgrading the ignition coil, plug wires, and spark plugs. Unless your distributor is giving you issues, you shouldn’t need to replace it for a bolt-on build Fox Body Mustang.
